• My name is Lyndi Elliott and I am from right here in Decatur, Illinois. I graduated from Sangamon Valley High School and went to Millikin University for my Bachelors of Human Services degree. I took a break after Millikin and moved to New Jersey for a few years. Upon moving back to Decatur, I applied to the MSW program with UIUC and here we are!

I have known I wanted to be a school social worker since I was in high school. I have always been passionate about helping people and knew I needed to make a career out of it. High schoolers are my favorite age range! I love being able to talk to them like adults while also being there for them during the rough transitions and emotions we all face at that age! I realized schools were my calling when I understood this would allow me to help our youth from all backgrounds and socioeconomic environments. There are many issues students face in school as well as many decisions they are expected to make, and I knew I wanted to be a resource and a sounding board for all of this.

I have a wonderful boyfriend, Zach, of 2.5 years and the best cat you can imagine named Rudy, who recently turned 7! In my free time, I love to travel. I abolutely love getting to see all of the beauty in this world and I've been lucky enough to visit Canada, Mexico, Ireland, and Germany! I've also taken a road trip to the Grand Canyon and have family whom I often visit in Arkansas, Texas, and Alabama. When I'm not able to travel (such as during Covid!) I enjoy watching TV/movies, finding new trails to hike, and playing board games!

I'm so excited to begin my career with MHS and to keep learning from the amazing staff and students here! I look forward to getting to know all of you as well!

    Go Generals!
