• Attendance

Regular school attendance is very closely related to your child's school performance and success. When children miss school, they also miss valuable instruction and interaction. Although make-up privileges are granted, some activities simply cannot be made up.

We realize absences, at times, cannot be prevented.  Please avoid unnecessary absences.  Please do your best to schedule routine appointments before or after school hours.

Whenever your child is absent from school, please call the school office at
    217-362-3370 by 10:30 AM.

    Please note the following:

        • The state requires a full day of attendance to be equal to at least 300 minutes.

        • A half day of attendance is require to equal at least 150 minutes.

        • Lunch time is not included in the counted minutes.

        • If your child is at school less than 300 minutes but more than 150 minutes, he/she will not receive credit for a full day of attendance. He/she will receive credit for one half day.

        • If your child is at school less than 150 minutes, he/she will receive no credit for attendance.  He/she will be marked absent for the whole day.

        • For Kindergarten and First Grade, the minimums are four hours for a full day and two hours for a half day.

The Macon/Piatt Regional Office of Education will be notified if and when a student has 5, 10, and 18 unexcused absences. Students who are chronically tardy will also be referred to the Macon/Piatt Regional Office of Education. The appropriate legal action according to the Illinois State Code will be taken to ensure that your child is in school.
