Happy New Year! I hope that all of you had a wonderful holiday season with family and friends. I know that the children loved being on vacation, but they all said that they were ready to come back to school. I was too!
January Book-It went home on Tuesday of this past week. Congratulations to the following students who completed December Book-It: Colin, Kiamoni, Shyann, Isabella, Clifton, Evan, Alyssa, Sophie, and Deyri. If your child chooses to participate in January Book-It, the completed form is due on January 31.
Parent conferences will be two different evenings this year. They will be Thursday, 2/7 and Tuesday, 2/12. The time will be from 4:00-7:00 both evenings. I will send home a signup sheet next week. Please be on the "look out" for it.
Report cards went home today in your child’s Friday Folder. Please sign and return the envelope on Monday. The report card is for you to keep.
Please notice the school wide PBIS celebration of a dance on the afternoon of March 15. This celebration is an earned privilege. The children have to have zero referrals and 94% attendance (Your child can only be absent 3 days starting this past Tuesday, 1/8). The cost of this celebration is 15 yellow PBIS tickets.
Also, please notice that the children will be going on another PASS program on February 23. This program is to see an illusionist. Your child can earn the privilege of attending this field trip by having work completed on time to the best of his/her ability, and behaving appropriately at school, on the bus, and on the playground. I will send home a permission slip at a later date.
I am pleased that twelve students earned goalkeepers this week, as these children had all assignments turned in on time, as well as receiving zero numbers and/or referrals. I am concerned that many students still struggle to complete assignments on time. As I have stated before, the children have plenty of opportunities in class to complete most of their work. If your child is still struggling with late and/or missing assignments, please speak with your child and make sure that he/she completes everything on time. This is a lifelong skill that your child needs to get in the habit of now!
That is all of the news for this week. Have a great weekend.
