About Language Arts

7th and 8th grade Language Arts both focus on the building of skills in writing and reading. In 7th grade, students will write narrative essays, argumentative essays, and will read the novels Tangerine by Edward Bloor and The Giver by Lois Lowry. In 8th grade, students will write narrative essays, arguementative research essays, and will read the novels Fahrenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury, Twelfth Night by William Shakespeare, Night by Eli Wiesel, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak, and The Boy in the Striped Pajamas by John Boyne. While both classes will focus on written expression as well as reading, 8th grade Language Arts has an emphasis on literary analysis. Both 7th and 8th grade Language Arts classes utilize an arts integrated format.
