• My name is Lisa Betzer.  I am entering my 31st year of teaching.  I taught at Roosevelt Middle School for several years, Eisenhower High School for 17 years.  This is my seventh year at MacArthur High School.  I earned my Bachelor's Degree in Speech Communication and English from Western University in 1984.  I earned my Master's Degree in Curriculum and Instruction from Olivet Nazarene University in 2004.  I  have been honored as an excellent teacher from the school district, most inspirational teacher from Western University, and Who's Who Among American Educators.  I am very involved in the school.  I have been English Department Head, Senior Class Advisor, Yearbook Advisor, and on many committees including the High School Reform,  High School Task Force, and School Improvement Grant Committee.
     
    I have been married to Officer Randy Betzer for 33 years.  I have two children ages 29 and 26.  They are both married and have full time jobs.     I am active in our community.  I have been on many outside committees including, JFL, Booster Club, PTO, Decatur Police Officers Wives Association, and I have been a Macon County Fair volunteer.
     
    My commitment to students and their education is at the forefront of my motivation to strive for excellence in the classroom everyday.  I have high expectations for myself, therefore, I have high expectations for my students.  I expect my students to strive for excellence and success in everything.  The word "can't" or "cannot" do not exist.  My students need to try always and try again.
