Mileage Club is a walking/running program that students can choose to participate in during their recess time. It is designed to promote good health and exercise and give students a safe and active activity during recess. Every student has a card to keep track of the miles they have walked. For every ¼ mile lap around the Mileage Club track students receive a punch on their card. When they have completed an entire card (5 miles) they will have their name announced on the intercom and receive a chain and a token. The Physical Education teacher, Mrs. Scharfenberg, started Mileage Club in the 2006-2007 school year with 166 students participating and 1235 collective miles walked. The program has been growing ever since and in the 2014-2015 school year had 322 students participating and 7,140 collective miles walked. And last year, for the first time ever, we had 4 students who walked at least 100 miles!
