Who is it for?
It is for students finishing 6 – 8th grade gifted students.
I received a letter saying my child was accepted. How or when will I know where they will attend?
Families will be notified of their acceptance by April 13, 2018. We are hoping to send out packets at the beginning of May. Students will attend one of the following sites depending upon the transportation address written on the application.
One of my children received a postcard saying they were accepted and one that said they are on the waiting list.
We apologize for the inconvenience. We did our best to accommodate families. If you can leave me the names of your children, I will forward your message onto the camp coordinator and have her contact you.
One of my children will be attending the Smash Camp and another at Camp Discovery. Is it possible to have them both at the same site? If you can leave me the names of your children, I will forward your message on to the camp coordinator and have her contact you.
I received a letter saying my child has been accepted into Smash Camp but he/she will no longer be able to attend.
Thank you for contacting us. I will forward this information onto the camp coordinator.
I received a postcard that says my child had not been selected to attend Smash Camp and is being placed on the waiting list. When will I know if he/she can get in?
As openings become available, those families on the waiting list will be contacted. Please make sure you contact the school with ANY changes to contact information. Openings will be filled based on student academic needs, test scores, and regular attendance information as well as previous camp attendance. It is not based on grades, and is not designed for students below current grade level. Smash Camp is not designed as a remediation program.
I completed an application for Smash Camp but I have not heard whether or not my child will be attending.
If you leave me your child’s name, grade level, and school, I will forward this information on to the camp coordinator and she will contact you as soon as possible.
How were the students selected for the program?
Students were selected based on academic need according to test scores, regular attendance, previous good camp attendance and other factors. If you have any additional questions, I can leave a message for the camp coordinator to contact you.
When will I know if my child will receive bus transportation?
Our goal is to send you the transportation information in the acceptance packet sent out by May 1.
