Degrees and Certifications:
Keith Creighton joined the Dennis School team in August 2012. Currently he is the Assistant Principal, but he taught in the middle school for the years preceding. As part of the Decatur Public School district he has worked to design and add the middle school program at Dennis Lab School, lead the development of one of the strands of the district’s strategic plan, and is currently working to expand Dennis Lab School to a dual campus. He received his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts degree from Millikin University. He earned his teaching certificate from Trinity Christian College. He completed his Masters in Teacher Leadership with Principal Endorsement through Eastern Illinois University.
Mr. Creighton is married to Beth Creighton, who is a professor at Millikin University in the School of Theatre and Dance. They have a daughter, Zoe. Together, the Creighton family loves traveling, attending theatre and dance performances and loving on their cats. They have four cats who are unique. Hamilton has a short tail, Grover is fat, Lincoln is deaf, and Quincy has a squished face. Mr. Creighton’s favorite hobby is playing board games. He has hundreds of games in his collection and regularly gets together with friends to play.
As assistant principal, Mr. Creighton believes that all Dennis students will one day change the world. He believes that Project Based Learning is the best way to help students realize their potential to accomplish big things. It is an honor to be able to watch the amazing staff love and educate children. The collaborative spirit of Dennis Lab School brings out the best in everyone.
