Mrs. Sarah Brice
I want to extend to you and your child my warmest welcome. This is my fifteenth year working for Decatur Public Schools. Although I have taught in traditional schools, Montessori is my true passion. I graduated with a degree in Elementary Education from Millikin University. I completed my Master’s of Education in Curriculum and Instruction with a focus in Math and Science at the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign in 2010. Then, I completed thirty two post-graduate hours past my master’s degree at Augustana University. Currently, I serve as an Adjunct Faculty Professor of Mathematics and Early Childhood Education at Richland Community College. I am a certified Early Childhood (3-6 years) and Elementary I (6-9 years) Montessori teacher. I completed my Montessori training at Midwest Montessori Teacher Training Institute an American Montessori Society accredited training center. Presently, I am exploring and guiding my son through the Montessori Infant Curriculum ages (0-3). His nursery is Montessori-style and functions as his classroom. As you can tell, I am a committed life-long learner and truly belive in Dr. Maria Montessori's revolutionary philosophy. I am a member of the American Montessori Society, Association of Illinois Montessori Schools, and several Decatur Public School District’s committees. I reside in Decatur with my husband, Robert, our son Merle (born February 2020), and our Yorkshire terriers, Lyla (11) and Freddie (2).
