Degrees and Certifications:
Hello Parsons Families, my name is Stacey Boline. I am the Family Support Liaison for Parsons School. I have spent over 25 years as a volunteer in Decatur Public Schools. When my oldest child entered school in the late 1980’s, I did not understand the need to show our children the importance of education, attendance, and how we should support their schools. I learned that giving of my time helped my children to grow in confidence and excel in school. My time also helped the teachers and administrators, and it helped me to grow as a parent and community member. I have had the opportunity of working with dozens of parents from every background you can imagine, and it’s been a great experience.
My job at Parsons is to help students and their families to enjoy school. I will be involved in coordinating special family nights designed for students and parents, grandparents or guardians to come and enjoy different fun activities. I will work to educate parents on attendance expectations and Illinois attendance laws. (A student is only allowed 9 unexcused absences during the school year. Consequences for non-attendance can include fines up to $500.00 or other legal action.) I will provide transportation when a child misses the bus, or when a parent needs to attend a meeting at school.
I hope to foster a WELCOMING environment at Parsons School. I want Parsons Families to feel comfortable approaching me (in person, email, or phone) for needed support services such as assistance with power bills, clothing or furniture needs, food, housing … the list goes on and on! Please, don’t ever be afraid to ask for help! If I can’t help you, I will try to find someone who can! This is my first year as liaison, so it will be a learning process, but I will do all I can to help you find support when you need it.
Coffee House is a place for parents to connect with other parents and with myself. I hope to empower parents with tools they may need to help their students succeed. Parsons Coffee House will meet the second Thursday of each month from 9 to 10 a.m. Everyone is welcome! Please bring a friend and join us.
Please don’t hesitate to contact me with any questions you may have, or if you would like to volunteer at school. You can reach me by email at email@example.com, in person, or by telephone at 217-362-3335.
