The Parent Leadership Training Institute (PLTI) seeks to enable parents to become leading advocates for children.
The cornerstones of the program are: respect, validation, and a belief that when the tools of democracy are understood, the public will actively engage in civic life.
New Sessions begin in October 2021. Classes are held weekly on Mondays with a family dinner at 5:00pm and class is from 5:30pm-8:30pm.

Parents are given three phases of training with PLTI:
1. A retreat to develop group cohesion and define mission (Retreat/Week 1 is mandatory, breakfast & lunch included).
2. 10-week course on parent leadership, understanding personal history and its impact on perception.
3. 10-week study of civics, policy and media with a Community Project to practice your new skills within a community framework.
Parents will be selected for PLTI with consideration given regarding how their participation will enhance diversity, strength, and learning for the group as a whole.
Who should apply?
Parents, teen parents, grandparents and other adults who wish to improve the lives of children, families and communities. Everyone is encouraged to apply regardless of his/her age, gender, income, education level, race, ethnicity, and age of child.
