Mr. Walker
    Welcome to Hope Academy!

I would like to extend a sincere welcome to all stakeholders.  On behalf of the staff at Hope Academy Magnet School, we welcome you to the 2018-2019 school year!  We strive to make every day a great day to be a Hawk! Hope Academy encourages parent participation and look forward to working with parents and students in educating each student to achieve personal excellence.

Hope Academy is an attractive, state- of the-art Kindergarten through 8th grade facility that was built in 2005 in the Wabash Crossing redevelopment area as a collaboration with the City of Decatur. The school was decorated in colors designed to blend in with the environment. Hope Academy houses over 500 students and is built with “front” views on either side.

Our mission is to enrich, improve, and inspire all students to achieve their highest potential with purposeful experiences and connections to the global society.  Hope Academy is a candidate school for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Primary Years Program and is pursuing authorization as an IB World School.  IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programs of international education that share a powerful vision.

Our school offers comprehensive arts, enrichment, and athletic programs that include: band, choir, orchestra, general music, art, social development, physical education and health, boys and girls basketball, cross country, track, and cheer, and girls volleyball.

It is our pledge to provide a challenging and rewarding experience for our students.  Again, we strongly encourage parents to become involved with our programs at Hope Academy to ensure a strong cooperative effort between the home and school.  Visitors and community members are also welcome and should check in into the main office upon entering the school.

Please contact the school whenever you have concerns about your child's education, etc.  Office hours are 8:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m. and our phone number is 217-362-3280.
