DID YOU KNOW? Youth who develop a meaningful mentor relationship with an adult are:
Five times more likely to graduate from high school
52% less likely to skip school
46% less likely to start using drugs
27% less likely to start drinking
DPS is looking for community groups, churches, businesses, and organizations willing to build relationships with our schools to support student success. Partners and schools will work together to determine how to best connect partner resources and interests with the school’s unique needs. Schools and organizations both benefit from these partnerships — our schools and students benefit from the additional resources, support, and experiences provided by their partners. And partners have an opportunity to make a direct impact by forming meaningful connections in our school community.
Here are just a few ideas of ways partners can support our schools:
Volunteer at school projects or events like career days, field trips, and back-to-school events
Read to students or volunteer in a classroom once a week
Mentor students who may need a consistent adult presence in their life
