Original Planning Overview
Decatur Public Schools launched Roadmap 2030 to guide the district’s long-term strategic direction and master facility planning with a focus on student success. Beginning in October 2024, a representative committee of students, staff, community partners, educational collaborators, and business leaders came together to collaboratively develop a plan reflecting the needs and aspirations of the Decatur school community. This inclusive process was designed to ensure diverse perspectives informed the work, with a final recommendation originally scheduled for presentation to the Board of Education in May 2025.Planning Update December 2025
The original committee made meaningful progress in this important work. In April 2025, the Board of Education paused the process to allow time for reflection, refinement, and the opportunity to broaden stakeholder engagement. We are now ready to reengage the committee, along with a few new committee members, and move forward with renewed focus, expanded representation, and a shared commitment to meaningful progress. This next phase will build on the foundation already established while ensuring Roadmap 2030 reflects the voices and priorities of our entire school community.Together, we are shaping a brighter future for our school community, the staff, and students of District #61.
