Maurice Payne
Mr. Maurice Payne's technology department is responsible for all technology systems, including servers, phone systems, office and classroom computers, MacBooks, iPads, laptops, chromebooks, Apple TV Displays, Promethean boards, email, internet and wireless access, and all other technology throughout Decatur Public Schools.
Mr. Payne joined Decatur Public Schools in September 2018. He holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Industrial Computer Systems from Illinois State University.
Responsibilities

Provides Leadership and Oversight of IT Staff: Offers supervision and support of the department. Coordinate technology initiatives across the department to ensure consistency and efficiency. Oversee the design, implementation, and maintenance of secure and reliable district-wide network systems. Monitors software license compliance and coordinate system updates or rollouts when required. Manage the IT departmental budget and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Ensures Data Security & Network Integrity: Provide oversight of data systems and network infrastructure to ensure integrity, security, and protection from unauthorized access or data breaches. Plan and implement any data security and/or disaster or emergency recovery protocols are in place and routinely tested.
Administers Student and Staff Devices & Accounts: Direct the lifecycle management of all district devices including procurement, deployment, and inventory tracking. Ensures efficient user account provisioning and permission controls. Monitor content on all devices and alert appropriate administrators when content filters detect a range of potential “threats” including self-harm, violence and/or other “key word” controls.
Provide Strong Technology Support & Service Delivery to District Staff: Lead the IT Technicians team to ensure timely and effective help desk support and ticket resolution. Standardize and enforce technical support procedures, service level expectations, and escalation protocols.
Safeguard Cybersecurity, Compliance, and Emergency Protocols: Enforce data privacy, cybersecurity measures, and compliance with federal/state regulations (e.g. FERPA, SOPPA). Conducts regular audits and vulnerability assessments across all IT systems. Provide guidance on cyber incident response planning and recovery.
