Info for Substitutes

Thank you for your interest in one of the most rewarding jobs in education, substituting! DPS recognizes the contributions made by its substitute teachers and supports their efforts toward maintaining continuity of instruction in the absence of full-time instructors.
Step 1: Obtain Substitute Licensure Through the ROE
If you would like to substitute teach in any Decatur Public School, you will need to hold a valid Professional Educator License (PEL) or Substitute Teacher License (SUB). The Macon-Piatt Regional Office of Education maintains substitute teacher authorization — click here to learn more about the process to obtain Substitute Licensure.
Step 2: Apply to Substitute with DPS
Step 3: Review Daily Substitute Vacancies
Daily substitute vacancies are posted using Frontline Absence Management. You can review available jobs directly on the homepage. These potential jobs appear in green on the calendar and in list form under the “Available Jobs” tab. Click here for a Substitute User Guide to using Frontline Absence Management.
